Forgot to check Amazon reviews before buying this,
but glad I didn't because the camera is quite good for my needs and I
might not have bought it based on the mixed and sparse reviews on
Amazon. I did look at "professional" reviews on photographyblog and
dpreview, which were much more positive.
I was deciding between
the new Olympus Pen Mini E-PM1, Sony NEX C3, and GF3. Tried out the
Olympus and GF3, and decided on the GF3. I got a better price on the
GF3 than I could for the Pen Mini, but that was just icing on the cake,
because the features on the GF3 meet my needs better.

The Panasonic GF6 is a great compact camera for
those looking to get into the Micro 4/3 system or those upgrading from
an earlier GF series camera. The camera is packed full of features and
with the redesign has many new updates from earlier GF series cameras.
The black and silver body with its curved top gives it a classy, stylish
look. It's arrangement of buttons is user friendly. It has enough
buttons for those who want to take control of the camera but not too
many that it is overwhelming for those moving up from a point and shoot.
Overall, I find the configuration very clean looking. Because of its
very small size the GF6 is ideal for those, like myself, who shoot
DSLR's but are tired of carrying around the much larger equipment but
don't want to compromise image quality. Because of its very small size
it also ideal those who want to step up in quality from a point and
shoot but still want a compact package.
I will first list what I
love about the GF6, then areas of improvement, and finally features I
wish it had. For those wanting more info I will then go into more depth
of the features I love and those which need improved upon. I also have
the GF5 and G5 so I will draw some comparisons along the way to those
models.

I just bought this for my wife. It is a very nice compact camera. I read
the reviews carefully for a number of compact models on Amazon, Cnet
and elsewhere. Panasonic seemed the best in this category so I went with
the recent model. We are very happy we did. We are happy with Canon for
larger, more serious cameras but for compacts Panasonic seems best.
This is certainly better than the Canon it replaced.
The response
time to click and shoot is very short compared to other compact cameras
we have had. The picture quality seems excellent in "Intelligent Auto".
It is flexible if you want to customize your shots with several
built-in photo types and also freedom to adjust yourself. The 10X
optical zoom is very good, too. [Note: goes to 20X with "digital zoom".
Pictures look fine but I think it is more meaningful to compare the
optical zoom. 10X is very good for a camera this small.]

I really wanted to like the XS1 because the small form factor was
perfect for dopping in my pocket and taking along wherever. As they say,
the best camera is the one you have with you. But if the camera's
software locks up after taking multiple photos and doesn't save the
photos to the card, it's worse than having no camera because of the
disappointment of losing once-in-a-lifetime shots that should have been
captured.

I'll be honest. I wasn't expecting a lot when I
decided to get this camera. Though I have a Nikon D3000 DSLR, I did also
have a Kodak Easyshare Z8612 camera for a long while, which served me
really well thanks to its Schneider-Kreuznach zoom lens. However, lately
it was taking bad pictures for some reason, and since it was pretty old
for a point and shoot/bridge, I thought I'd replace it with an
inexpensive but useful camera update. This is where the Lumix comes in.
I've
read for about three years the reviews that the Lumix cameras were
getting, which varied from amazing to mediocre in general. Since these
are made by Panasonic, I was wary about them and did not trust them at
first. However, I was on a budget- and I was specifically looking for a
small superzoom camera that could fit in a pocket. I needed a quality
camera. I looked at several choices, like the Olympus Stylus cameras.

The is going to be a quick review on the camera
and I will add more as time goes on. The FZ70 takes really good sharp
photos, but hand held might be a problem in lower light levels. I went
out yesterday evening and took some shots hand held and they all came
out blurry. I should have paid more attention to the shutter speed.
The camera works fantastically in iA, which is the auto mode. I mainly use Aperture but was impressed with the auto settings.
It will go with a 60 second exposure in the Starry Sky Mode, which is under the SCN mode on the main dial.

differences between the GM1 and the larger Lumix GX7 introduced this

I just got this camera in time for the first nice weather weekend on the
East Coast and we went to NYC with the family for a nice day in Central
Park.
I purchases a ZS10 2 years ago and skipped last year's model to buy the ZS25 this year.
It
is a very fast camera from start up time to auto focus time and shutter
release. I can't even tell the difference in speed compared to my DSLR
(5 yrs old)
